Addressed the regulation and laws and surveillance system of the market as well as changes in member practice. The BSE was the largest manual, floor traded market in the world with over 6000 companies, 3000 brokers and jobbers. Automation had an immediate and positive effect on the market and the BSE SENSEX is now a major index traded worldwide.
